Help Horniman Gardens
Thursday, 12 November 2009

THE South London Press is backing a campaign to help a popular public attraction become bigger and better.
Thousands of South Londoners know and love the Horniman Museum’s wildlife gardens.
A big Christmas Carol Concert at the museum next month will help raise much-needed cash for redevelopment work to the gardens.
The event will take place in the gardens on Sunday, December 13, from 3pm.
The afternoon will end with performances from the Crystal Palace Band and the English Baroque Choir at the bandstand in the gardens.
A Christmas market will take place in the conservatory area with stalls, and there will be a free Santa’s grotto in the Dutch barn.
Your donations will also be used for a new animal enclosure, a community learning base and a restored sunken garden with a new central pool.
Work is also planned to glaze the rear of the bandstand and open up the terrace area.
The redevelopment work is part of the museum’s plans to fulfil founder Frederick Horniman’s vision of a united museum and gardens.
