David Mooney open to permanent Charlton switch
Thursday, 26 November 2009
IN-FORM striker David Mooney has not ruled out the possibility of a permanent switch to Charlton in January.
The 25-year-old is on a 28-day loan from Reading but that is due to expire after the Addicks’ trip to Brighton on Tuesday night.
The forward, who spent a spell on loan at Norwich last season, has scored two goals in his two full appearances for the club, including hitting the opener in Tuesday night’s 4-2 win over Bristol Rovers.
Charlton are keen to keep him for a little while longer - particularly as they have concerns over the fitness of Leon McKenzie and Deon Burton - and Mooney admits a permanent move to The Valley is something he would afford serious consideration.
“The loan is up next Tuesday night after the game and hopefully it will be extended,” he said.
“If the possibility of a permanent move came up in January I think I’d have to look at it. If I’m not playing at Reading but I’ve done well here, then I’d have to sit down with my family and see what we want to do.”
