PADDY McCarthy looks set to make his return to action for Crystal Palace in Saturday’s clash against Cardiff City. T he defender, out since January after undergoing shoulder surgery, resumed full training last week and has been given the all-clear to return to first-team duty.

But Palace boss Neil Warnock wants the former Charlton man to play 60 minutes for the reserves on Wednesday before bringing him back into contention for the visit of play-off chasing Cardiff.

Winger John Oster will miss tomorrow night's home game against Coventry as he has a neck problem.

"At the moment it’s too painful for him to lie down to get an X-ray done," said Warnock. "Until he has had the scan we don’t know exactly what John has done."
