King's College Hospital to hold open day this Sunday

Friday, 29 June 2012

PEOPLE will be able to see what goes on behind the scenes at King's College Hospital at an open day on Sunday.

Visitors to the site in Denmark Hill can visit four marquees and meet staff from the liver unit, neurology, children's wards, maternity, research and development, sexual health and stroke and learn about the conditions and diseases they treat, and the ways in which they care for their patients.

There will also be a mini-Olympics, face-painting, clowns, live music, a bouncy castle and competitions, as well as mole, blood pressure and dental checks, dietary advice, and a chance to take part in a pedal exerciser race.

Young science boffins will be able to take part in experiments and children can have their teddies bandaged at the Teddy Bear Hospital.

Viewers of Chanel 4's 24Hours in A&E – the documentary series about the Emergency Department at King’s - will have the opportunity to find out more about the service.

The open day runs from 11am to 3pm and is free.
