CRYSTAL Palace’s players have a change of scenery when they begin pre-season this morning - with four days at St George’s Park.

The Eagles squad will arrive at the national headquarters of the FA on Monday morning and leave on Thursday afternoon.

And Scott Guyett, the club’s fitness and conditioning coach, has revealed Palace would probably have trained there even if there was not major work being carried out at their Beckenham training ground - including better drainage for the pitches and a bigger gym.

Guyett said: “It is good to take the players away because you’ve got to remember they are at the training ground for 10 months of the year, when it is not always sunny and warm.

“The training ground work is extensive - and much-needed. It’s going to be a huge improvement for the staff. I’m in there nearly every day and it’s going to look really good. We get two full days to work the boys at St George’s and everything is there - there is no travel fo... read on
