Chelsea 1 Crystal Palace 0

CRYSTAL Palace were unable to deny Chelsea the win they needed to seal the Premier League title - but could take huge pride from their performance in west London.

The only goal of the game came towards the end of the first half but PFA Player of the Year Eden Hazard went down in the box with seemingly no contact.

The Belgian was denied from the penalty spot by Julian Speroni but followed up to head into the net.

It was a third defeat in a row for Palace but a vast improvement on the reverses to West Brom and Hull as they pushed their opponents hard for the victory which ensured they cannot be overtaken.

Wilfried Zaha was the standout performer and was denied late on by Thibaut Courtois to ensure that Chelsea did not need to put the champagne back on ice.
