CRYSTAL Palace have been told to forget a January deal for Roma left-back Ashley Cole.

The Eagles were exploring a loan deal move for the former Chelsea and Arsenal defender.

But Palace boss Neil Warnock has ended his interest after being told that Cole, 33, is settled in Italy and not seeking an exit.

The experienced manager had contacted the player's representative David Manasseh to see if there was a deal to be done.

"I was asked the question if I would like Ashley Cole and the answer is yes I would," said Warnock. "But there is just no way he is going to come away from Italy this season.

"I haven't taken it any further - and I won't be taking it any further. It's pointless."... read on
