MILLWALL lost £9million last season, even though average crowds rose by six per cent.

The headline increase is due to the lack of an FA Cup run, which boosted the figures the previous year as the Lions reached a Wembley semi-final.

Revenue up to this June was £10.5m, 18.4 per cent less than the previous 12 months. Matchday income dropped 21 per cent, when it had risen by more than 16 per cent the previous year.

Sales of merchandise such as shirts and kits also fell back 13 per cent on 2012-13, which had been a rise of five per cent on the previous year.

Staff costs were £14m, five per cent more than the previous annual figure, which had itself been an 18 per cent rise on the one before that.
