JAMES McArthur won't be letting his hefty price tag weigh heavily on his performances for Crystal Palace.

But the Scottish international admits that one of the first things he thought about on completing his big-money switch to the Eagles was the windfall heading to his former club Hamilton Academical.

A figure of £7million was bandied around when McArthur joined Palace on deadline day of the summer transfer window - although that total was played down by Selhurst Park chiefs.

But McArthur's move saw the Accies' receive a sell-on fee, part of the deal negotiated when he joined Wigan in 2010.

Not that the Glasgow-born midfielder, 26, is clued up on the numbers involved in his move to South London.

"I don't know to be honest," said McArthur. "I don't think it was the £7m mark. But it doesn't bother me at all.
